In the heart of the city center of Chieri, and in a prestigious setting just a few steps from the Triumphal Arch, we offer a very particular building dating back to the 15th century, of great historical interest.


Specifically, it is a complex of medieval buildings, formerly belonging to the Solaro family.


The Synagogue of Chieri dates back to exactly when the Ghetto was established in 1724, it was set up on the first floor to respect the religious precept which forbade a place of worship to be dominated by living quarters.


It is a large rectangular room with four large pointed windows on the north and south sides and two oval windows on the east side. The women's gallery, shielded by a perforated grate, is located in an elevated position and retains part of an inscription in Hebrew. In the room that precedes it, there is still a washbasin and some boxes for offerings.


The hall of the synagogue no longer has the original eighteenth-century appearance but that assumed in 1843, when Rabbi Lattes promoted internal restoration and embellishment works to which the Sacerdote and Levi families contributed financially.


From 1848, with the emancipation achieved, an exodus from Chieri to Turin began, which in a short time exhausted the local Jewish community. In 1930 the community was in fact merged with that of Turin, the Synagogue was closed in 1935 and the sacred furnishings transferred to Turin after the war, after which it was sold to private individuals who transformed it into a residential house.


Despite the transformations it underwent in the 1900s, the former Chieri prayer room still retains an interesting nineteenth-century painting cycle in trompe-l'œil in neo-Gothic style and on the walls symbolic images taken from the Old Testament.


At the center of the vault of the Chieri room stands a rose window that imitates the architectural decorations of "flamboyant" Gothic.
The passage to access it via a stone-clad staircase flanked by three round arches resting on brick columns.


There is also a room with an eighteenth-century fireplace and on the floor above another room better described above (the women's gallery) which overlooks all the frescoes.


The roof has been completely revised. To complete the property there are two cellars with vaulted ceilings and exposed bricks originating from the time.
